Fair housing is topic for property managers

The Big Island Chapter of the National Association of Residential Property Managers’ next membership/luncheon meeting will be held from 11:45 a.m. until 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at Fujimama’s Restaurant. The meeting is open to members, affiliates and their guests.

Guest speakers will be from Hawaii County Office of Housing and Community Development and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development with a presentation and discussion of issues relating to fair housing practices and abuses.

Cost is $18 for members and affiliates and $22 for nonmembers and includes lunch. Call Linda Sasaki at 329-8097 for more information or to make a reservation.


Love, Shirota honored by Hawaii BPW Club

Each year, the Hawaii Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Club honors an outstanding employer who has provided opportunities for women and has demonstrated equality in the workplace.

The recipient of the 2007 Business of the Year is Mary Love Realtor.

Mary Love has been involved in real estate since 1978 beginning as a Realtor associate, then broker and own owning her own real estate company since 1989, Mary M. Love, Realtor. She has received certificates for the many educational courses offered through the Hawaii Association of Realtors, the Kona Board of Realtors, Institute of Real Estate Management and National Association of Residential Property Managers and as Employer of the Year. Love is also active in the Kona Outdoor Circle, Kona Historical Society, Ford Ironman World Championship, as a member and officer of the above mentioned realty boards, West Hawaii coordinator for West Hawaii for U.S. Congressman Ed Case, 2nd Congressional District, and recipient of the Ambassador Award for National Association of Residential Property Managers and a certificate of excellence as the Best Property Management by West Hawaii Today in 2004.

The club also honors an outstanding Woman of the Year. This woman must be an active BPW member

Chosen as 2007 Woman of the Year, Susan Shirota became a member of the Kona LO in June 2003 and exemplifies the meaning of volunteerism. She does not shirk from responsibility and has always been ready and willing to help. As a freshman member of the Kona LO, she has served in various offices on the board. She has served as state secretary for three years and has also been the foundation chairwoman, Woman and Employer of the Year chairwoman and chairs special committees within the Kona LO.
